Toulomne County, California - New Gold Rush Pans Out in Motherlode area.A news story from June 17, 2010."The miner who found the gold did not want to be identified on camera, nor, understandably would he tell anyone where he found it except it was found in or around one of the local rivers. (There are three in the area; they are the Stanislaus and Clavey rivers, and the longest, the Toulomne river). The gold prospector displayed his 3 pounds of gold for the camera, worth about $75,000."The news story notes the gold came from southern Tuolumne County, because of some of the other minerals attached to the gold. The Clavey River is in the southern part of the county.Nearly 3/4 of the gold recovered from this county was from placer deposits. Many consider the placer deposits here to be the best in the Sierra Nevada range. Total production for Tuolumne County has been in excess of 11,000,000 ounces to date. Our Clavey River claims are placer claims. Tuolumne County, is one of the Mother Lode counties, which are those counties having the most gold discoveries.
Town of Groveland:gold was discovered here in 1849, and thousands of dollars in placer gold were taken from mines on Garotte Creek, Big Creek, and other diggings. Among the buildings remaining from the Gold Rush is the Iron Door Saloon built in 1852, still flourishing and claiming to be the oldest saloon in California.
Current Gold Prices over $1700 per ounce:
The Clavey River is a tributary of the Tuolumne River, having a history of gold discoveries. The river has bedrock pockets making for what prospectors call "Gold Traps" for panning. The nearby town of Groveland is known as the gateway to Yosemite National Park.TheClavey Riveris one of the fewundammedrivers inCalifornia, which allows for any gold to flow freely downstream.
The Clavey is special because it has some of the highest biotic integrity of any river in California, meaning, it has little to no pollution. This river is unique because it still harbors a pre-glacial remnant population ofcoastal rainbow trout.
This is a 40 acre unpatented, gold mining placer claim, the Clavey River Gold #1, with the beautiful Clavey River running through the claim, and is in Tuolumne County, California, in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains, and the Stanislaus National Forest.
The claim is legally registered with the Bureau of Land Management out of Sacramento and Tuolumne County. You own the mineral rights, not sharing with others, on the 40 acres, and use your 40 acres, recreationally for camping: tent, camper, or RV, and prospecting: an awesome, beautiful area.
With an approved BLM Plan of Operation, a building could be built on the land: any building that benefits and improves the claim, though you cannot permanently live on a mining claim. Current usage, is what the BLM calls, Casual Use: panning, shovel, rock hammer, metal detector, creek powered sluice.
On our locating of the claim, we gathered in and around the river, approx. 1/8 of an ounce of gold, being worth about $220. As the BLM does not specify the amount of gold to be found to locate a claim other than gold needs to be discovered, we use this amount for a 40 acre claim as a projection of good gold potential. Someone with more time may find more. Gold prices are over $1700/ounce. Though we could never guarantee what you will find, we did locate this claim in an historically rich area for gold prospecting.
You are allowed to post No Trespassing for Prospecting signs in and around the claim.
A mining claim owner may limit or restrict public recreational use of/or public access across claims or portions of claims that are actively used for prospecting, mining, or processing operations where public recreational use of a claim would endanger or materially interfere with legitimate mining pursuits.
Camp on your claim or the area national forest campgrounds.
A claim owner does not need permission nor a permit to camp and prospect.
You can prospect as little or as much as you like.
Now that we have located the claims, you never have to declare to the BLM any gold or gems you find.

Tuolumne County has produced over 3 million ounces of lode gold and over 8 million ounces of placer gold: the placers are thought to be the richest in the states history. The word itself, Tuolumne, means Golden Adventures, named after the rich gold discoveries in the 1800s, and gold prospecting continues here today. Our claims are located on the way to Yosemite National Park known as the gateway to Yosemite.

The towns of Sonora, Columbia, Jamestown, Twain Harte and Groveland have much to offer including arts, festivals, theater, living history, shopping and entertainment. Gold is dense and heavy, it has a characteristic metallic color, and it is soft and easily malleable (it is easily formed by hammering). These are the characteristics used by prospectors to identify gold in the field.Placer gold occurs on the claim as small grains derived from gossan formed by weathering, and oxidation of the gold, copper and iron rich veins. Gold also occurs as grains flakes and small nuggets derived from the erosion of mineralized fault zones on, and upstream from the claim.
