Terrain:

The ranch has a very diverse topography ranging from very scenic breaks with cedar cover to productive mesquite flats. The ranch has not been grazed throughout the current year and the native grasses and forbs overall are in excellent condition.

The southern portion of the ranch is fairly open with a moderate canopy of mesquite. As you transition towards the northern and eastern end of the ranch cedar becomes more prevalent and there is more topography.

Water:

The ranch is considered to be well watered overall with numerous water sources, including the flowing live creeks, several seasonal creeks and small tributaries, springs, dirt tanks, electric water wells with pipelines and windmills.

There are numerous good dirt tanks scattered throughout the ranch. Many of these have been cleaned out in recent years. Several of the dirt tanks are exceptional in size.

Additional livestock and wildlife water is provided by several live creeks which flow through the ranch. Rock Creek flows through the property for several miles and actually heads on the Riddel Ranch. Additionally, there are several small tributaries to Rock Creek which appear to have spring water.

Access:

As previously stated, the ranch is in three tracts all in close proximity to one another. There is substantial frontage on three highways as well as access by several maintained county roads.

Improvements:

The main ranch headquarters is located in the northern portion of the property and consists of a modest ranch house, shipping and working pens, a nice metal barn with concrete floor and pens/traps.

An older rock home serves as the hunters quarters and is located near Rock Creek. There is another home, currently occupied, that is located in the southern portion of the ranch. All of the homes on the property are currently in use.

There are three sets of pipe shipping pens located on the ranch with several sets of pipe and wire working pens. The shipping and working pens are very adequate for the ranch and appear to be in excellent working condition.

The ranch is fenced and cross fenced into many pastures with traps.

Hunting/Recreation:

Stonewall County is well renowned for quality wildlife and the Riddel Ranch is no exception. Whitetail deer numbers are terrific and the river and creek bottoms are excellent habitat for deer and quail.
