Millcreek is the main drainage for all of the local foothills, eventually feeding in to the Kings River. We classify it as a year round stream because it supports a native trout population...it has never been planted but I have been catching trout in it for over 50 years. Millcreek flows through the entire length of the property...you own both sides. It has truly raw and natural beauty. I'll just say the pictures don't do it full justice. (Little side note: the Dixie Queen Gold Mine, the only local mine ever to produce gold, is only 1 mile upstream. Not saying there's gold to be found, but...not saying there isn't, either.)
Access to the property is via a private dirt road. It's a little rough right now but the owner is doing some improvements. The road does insure your privacy. Upon entering the property you come to the fully restored original residence dating back to the early 1900's (the "Cabin"). The exterior of this 3br1ba guest cabin has been modernized but the interior retains the rustic charm of the original stone fireplace, wood floors, beamed ceilings, and a neat master bedroom with its own woodstove and double French doors leading to a private deck overlooking the stream. The sounds at night are awesome! The cabin area also has the original barn and shop.
From the cabin, you make your way up a drive that goes past the private pond with its nice dock and then works its way to the top of the hill to the main residence where you enjoy complete and total privacy (the Castle"). The 3,724 sqft, 4br3ba home is aptly named with its 4 octagonal turrets...one for each of the large bedrooms and the master suite. This beautiful custom 2 story home is sited on a natural rock stemwall foundation and features quality 2x6 construction. The large covered front porch has double entry doors into a neat, open living area with a corner natural rock fireplace and insert. The floors of the home are imported large plank red oak...both unique and classic in style. Double banistered oak stairs lead up to the sleeping quarters on the second floor. The main floor has the living room, large kitchen with beautiful oak cabinetry, separate breakfast room, formal dining room, large utility room, and a great game room (pool table not included). Upstairs you will find 3 large bedrooms, each with its own high turreted ceiling and spectacular view, a nice office or computer room, and the master suite with tiled jacuzzi tub, separate shower, and split lav sinks with a sky lighted ceiling. This is a quality residence with amazing privacy and serenity. It is truly a place to get away from the turmoil of the outside world. Completing the main residence area is an oversize 3 car detached garage. One last thing...don't be worried about being out of touch. You have direct line of sight to McKenzie Ridge which can provide you with high speed wireless DSL internet service.
Now for a tour of the land...this is primitive and natural beauty at its very best. While Millcreek is its centerpiece, the land features a variety of forested areas, open meadows, ridges, and rock bluffs. It is a natural wonderland and home to a tremendous variety of wildlife including deer, wild turkey, racoons, bobcats, red and gray fox, and birds of all species including hummingbirds, quail, wild ducks, many raptors, and even the occasional king fisher. The property is completely fenced with cross fencing across the stream. This is a great property to fish, hunt, swim, ride, or just enjoy hiking while communing with nature.
Any negative features? Not really...the dirt road in to the property is about 2 tenths of a mile and is kind of rough in spots but, as I said, the owner is doing some repairs to improve it.
This really is a one-of-a-kind property. It would be a terrific vacation or second home property. It would also be an excellent property for a corporate retreat. Or, if you are coming from a high dollar area, such as Southern California or the Bay area, and are looking for a quality, but very rural, living environment for your next home, then you will be amazed at just how much your dollars can buy. Obviously, this isn't an inexpensive property, but compare it with any other similar property anywhere in California and you will see what I mean. Our central location puts you within 3 to 4 hours of San Franciso, Los Angeles, and the Central Coast. Check us out...this is one of the prettiest areas in all of California.
