2-5 mature bulls, 2-4 cows, 1-3 either sex bow hunting. The property falls into the primitive hunting unit 15. The 59,338 acre Forest Grazing Allotment is rated for 354 Yearlings for a 6-months occupation per year. The annual lease amount is $ 2,890.35.
The entire ranch consists of beautiful lush grass meadows shadowed by tall ponderosa pine forests. Its canyons and grass valleys are fed by year-round springs and creeks, and this ranch is sufficiently watered by only 3 wells. The terrain reaches in elevation from about 7,000 feet to 9,500 feet.
Quemado Lake is a Recreation Area with several National Forest camp grounds along its northern boundary. Fishing is prominent for Muskie and Trout. Snuffy's Restaurant offers also a small tack and groceries & liquor supply shop, as well as a gas station which should be revamped by spring of 2014.
Besides the sizable elk which this unit is known for, one can expect to see mountain lion, cougar, bear, wolf, coyote, fox and wild turkey. This property stuns anyone who knows New Mexico as a desert country due to its many year-round water resources and lush fields of grass.
