I was extremely impressed with this farm on my first visit. I expected swampy terrain in an open setting with limited cover. The property is extremely accessible, with an interior trail system throughout. I was there shortly after a near record amount of rain hit the area and was amazed at the great condition it was in. The thick natural cover along with moderately contoured terrain was perfect for holding mature deer that get pressured from the woodlot dotted landscape found in this part of north central Iowa near the Minnesota border. It didn’t shock me to see the trailcam pictures and the caliber of whitetails currently using the farm. They have everything they need here and the deer population will only grow once the season begins. I don’t remember the last time I saw pheasant numbers this high on a tract of land this size, I didn’t know wild populations like this even existed today...
