I consider myself to be one of the lucky people who have had the opportunity to hunt Burns Hunting Club. As a matter of fact, I got to hunt with Tom Burns himself, and we flat smoked our limit of geese, and it didnt take long!
Well, that was back in the mid 80s, when thousands of Canada geese flocked to southern Illinois.
Times have changed since then, and the thousands of geese that used to call Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge there winter home have been replaced by thousands of ducks!! Dont get me wrong, when the geese in northern and central Illinois cant take the cold anymore and head south, they still hammer em. But having said that, I dont think there is a better locale in all of Illinois to consistently kill ducks! Yeah, its that good!
