Overall, Wharton is a beautiful place to live and work. Whether you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place to raise a family or escape the hustle and bustle of city life, Wharton has something to offer everyone. With its friendly people, beautiful scenery, and rich history, it is no wonder that many people call this charming city home.
The city hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on March 28, 2023, to kick off the New FM 1301 Extension and Railroad Overpass construction. The corridor extension will provide connectivity from FM1301 at Highway 60 to the Highway 59 corridor/soon-to-be Interstate 69. The newly added portion will cross the Kansas City Southern Railroad, where an elevated bridge will be built.
Extending this corridor will not only create a safer community and better mobility but also create an additional area that can be developed for economic benefit.
