Rare opportunity to find lakes of this size. Excellent recreational tract. Development potential with an abundance of road frontage/access. Original site of Trinity County Lumber Sawmill 1882 - 1930. Upper lake built as a water source when mill constructed. Lower lake built a few years later for recreational purposes. They contained 85+ acres when built. Marguerite Avery lowered level of both lakes after her father died in 1964. She wanted more grazing area for her cattle. Marguerite ran cattle on the place for 50 years. It would be easy to raise water level on lakes if desired. W.L. Avery formed a non-profit hunting & fishing club (association) in 1937. They received their charter from the state on 4-12-37. The association was to exist for a term of 50 years. There were around 100 members. The association expired on 4-12-87 and no members have used the lakes since then.
