The High Divide Ranch is a magnificent example of living history! Located on the west rim of the San Juan Mesa (which divides the Llano Estacada and the Edwards Plateau) this area was once favored by Native Americans and later on Settlers, Buffalo Hunters, Outlaws and Cattle Drivers! Turn off of Hwy 208 onto the paved drive and follow it 8/10ths of a mile, where you will arrive at the Main Headquarters. The property is headquartered by a grand 4200sq. 3/2 custom stone home designed by Architect Ralph Duesing that was completed in 1988. The Headquarters & Home feature a stone courtyard, large back patio, garden area, detached garage, carport and storage room, stone barn, tack room and dog kennels with separate water/septic.
The terrain ...
The terrain on the ranch is incredibly diverse; varying from caliche Mesas' offering tremendous views to Shin Oak filled finger canyons and Live Oak and Mesquite filled bottoms with deeper soils. The ranch is fenced and crossed fenced into multiple pastures with fences generally being in good condition. There are numerous stock tanks located throughout the ranch, in addition to these tanks, there are 6 windmill wells and 3 submersible wells located on the property that provide water to multiple troughs.
In addition to the livestock aspect, the ranch offers excellent hunting for whitetail deer, turkey and hog, as well as great wing shooting for dove and waterfowl on the tanks! Large coveys of bobwhite quail have also been recently spotted. There is a small hunter's cabin located below the main headquarters that offers additional lodging.
Ideally located in both Coke and Tom Green Counties, with approx. 2 miles of frontage on Hwy 208 13 +/- miles South of Robert Lee and 18 +/- miles north of San Angelo.
