This historic Home is built from hand-hewn Limestone Rock and stands as firm today as the day it was built. The home sat unoccupied on the rise that overlooks Burkes Garden Creek and the vast farmlands of Burkes Garden for many years. Conscious of the historical significance of this property, the current owners have added a double walled brick addition to incorporate modern amenities such new roof, insulated windows, baths, oversized fireplaces and heat pump. The tall ceilings and floors in the new addition are supported with massive reclaimed antique wood beams from a bridge on the St. Lawrence River . The original structure is period correct with no plumbing or wiring installed. The owners had the mortar pointed and the thick Limestone Rock walls are exposed as are 203 year old beams and wide boards.
Also located on the property are two machinery sheds, stock barn and drive in hay shed, chicken house and a whimsical building styled after an old time country store which was used to house antiques and collectables. The owner raised cattle and ran a thriving tomato and pumpkin business for several years.
Burkes Garden Creek winds calmly through the southernmost part of the property. The creek banks are nesting grounds for wild ducks and Canadian Geese. This farm has ample water. There is a branch flowing in on the north side of the property and a cave spring which supplied water to the house in the 1800's. The house water is supplied by a well and pump. There is one year round spring fed pond and one seasonal pond which is supplied by creek overflow.
