This creative solution is a great idea and well executed to serve the water needs of the homes. In times of limited rainfall, water can be delivered to the property by local providers.
The ranchland acreage is comprised of a mix of native mesquite and cedar pastures with a variety of breaks, draws and canyons leading into Longhorn Valley. The valley floor is primarily sandy loam river bottom soils. More native pastures as well as a 43 acre food plot cover the lowlands.
A wildfire came through this area in the spring of 2011, affecting this and all neighboring ranches. Native brush and wood fences were burned, but no other structures were damaged on this ranch. The homes, sheds and water collection system were not affected by the fire. At present, the native brush and grasses are returning on the ranch. The thinned vegetation made the rough terrain of the ranch more visible, providing interesting exploration opportunities in the draws and canyons that had, prior to the fire, been obscured from view by the thick brush present in these areas.
