THE ALMOST ULTIMATE ROUGHING IT CAMPING RETREAT!
So you think that you would like to rough-it on your own country retreat where you can hike, hunt, fish, camp, swap tall tales and view the night sky; well here is your opportunity! This 6-acres will feel much larger by the time you get through hiking it.

The adventure begins when you set out from the beautiful Hill Country town of San Saba, where there are many fun things to do, and make the 18 mile drive out in the country along Hwy 16, then down FM 500, then about 9 miles on an all-weather gravel county road and finally about a mile down an easement road (with no gates) to your destination. From there, you make your own trails on foot.
The property runs along the road for about 600 feet along the top edge of a hill. There is plenty room along the road to build your cabin where the view is for miles. There is an electric meter that contributes to the comfort level of the camping experience. There is no public water nearby and no water well at the property. Neighboring landowners either pump water from the river or have a rainwater collection system.
About 100 feet into the property the slope of the hillside begins and it descends fairly steeply for about another 100+ feet then begins to level out on over to the rivers edge. The wide & fairly level bank has plenty room to move up and down the 599 feet of river frontage and access to the water is pretty good.
The land has very dense tree & brush cover at the top and down the side of the hill and there is no shortage of sandstone (it is very rocky)! The river bottom area is more open and shaded by big trees. It is a haven for deer, turkey, hogs and all kinds of critters. As you descend the hillside and get closer to the bottom of the hill, you come upon a very unique, rustic (and I am sure there are some other words to describe it) cabin/tree house that is built on the side of the bluff. It needs a good bit of restoration, but looks like it would be an adventure just to stay in it!
If you haven't lost interest or gotten scared away from this property yet, then you just may be a good match for it, so give us a call or email and schedule your trip to San Saba to take a look at this great little retreat. This is one of the most family fun properties on the market! But be warned; wear long pants and hiking shoes or boots, because it ain't for no tenderfoot!
Some of the pictures were taken when the tree cabin was being used regularly and gives an idea of how it could be renovated. More details are available upon request.
