This is such a cool property! At the end of a dirt road, you pull into the homesite and looking out past the farmyard to the east the sun will set behind you lighting up the hillside and timber along the east line. I walked this property and couldn't get enough of it! I just wanted to keep walking it and learning it. There was tons of deer sign and while walking it I kept adding mental notes to the map in my head of all the good stand sites and where I think deer would come through most! I also saw a pretty large rub that definitely wasn't from a standard year and a half old buck. This rub was definitely from a mature Northwoods buck! Then all I could think about was who is this buck? How big is he? Did he survive the season? Just like I do on the properties my family and I hunt! The property is mostly all high ground with a great mix of aspen, maple, oak, a few spruce and ash mixed in h...
This is such a cool property! At the end of a dirt road, you pull into the homesite and looking out past the farmyard to the east the sun will set behind you lighting up the hillside and timber along the east line. I walked this property and couldn't get enough of it! I just wanted to keep walking it and learning it. I also saw a pretty large rub that definitely wasn't from a standard year and a half old buck. This rub was definitely from a mature Northwoods buck! Then all I could think about was who is this buck? How big is he? Did he survive the season? Just like I do on the properties my family and I hunt! The property is mostly all high ground with a great mix of aspen, maple, oak, a few spruce and ash mixed in here and there. The land also has excellent topography with some rolling hills and some ridges creating natural travel areas for the deer. One really awesome area was in the southeast part of the property. There was a big flat loaded with deer beds, trails, and then a nice ridgeline. I flushed several grouse along the great trails and along the slough edge on the southwest corner. There is also a creek/ditch in the southwest corner that would add potential to hunt the occasional ducks and geese or adding a few extra fur bearers to your trapping season. I saw sign of beaver and could only imagine this area would get some use from mink and otters as well. The meadow/old pasture to the east on the northern 40 has a couple excellent areas to put in a couple great food plots. There are also some great areas in the timber that would be great areas for hidden smaller fields to catch deer heading to the main fields. This property has an old home that could either be fixed up to live in or fix up to use as a hunting shack. There are also a couple outbuildings and a barn that could be possibly fixed up and used too. Or a person could get rid of these things build that dream cabin, home, Morton pole shed cabin/home and live in a very convenient location to nearby Cloquet or Duluth. Cloquet is approx 12.2 miles and Duluth is approx 31.2 miles. The St. Louis River is also nearby as well as a few other great lakes. Call today for more info or to request a showing.
