Wolf Island Downs

Wolf Island Downs started with a family of five and a dream of one man.

Our Dad wanted to have a place where families could come on a Sunday afternoon, bring a lawn chair, and enjoy the outdoors. It started with horse racing and how exciting it was! Our Dad purchased a starting gate, built a concession stand, and put the family to work.

Dad was the starter, Mom ran the concession, and the children helped wherever we were needed. It was a quarter-mile track and the horses were beautiful as they raced to the finish.

After the horse races, Dad moved on to motorcycles, draft horse shows, jeep, and dog races. The motorcycles started with motocross and quickly moved to cross country, and Riders came from all over to compete.

We all grew up at our farm. We had goats, cows, dogs, chickens, and horses. Wonderful memories of a life well lived.
