In the mid 1800’s along comes the Longbine brothers in their covered wagons from Kentucky and Tennessee. Like hundreds of other pioneers the lure of land ownership drew them westward. Each of the brothers staked out a homestead along a marked ridge that led to a beautiful, meandering waterway that would become known as the Gasconade River. Here they settled and built a log cabin atop a long ridge.
