Located in the tightly-held Blackfoot River Valley of western Montana, the Blackfoot Rivers Confluence is nestled in this special community south of the Bob Marshall Wilderness. This scenic property is home to classic western vistas with 707 acres of varied terrain from river bottom to timbered ridges. The Big Blackfoot River runs along the southwest border for 1 miles, and an additional 1 miles of the North Fork of the Blackfoot River fronts the northern perimeter, where of the rivers merge on the western edge of the ranch. This beautiful river was memorialized in Norman MacLeans novel A River Runs Through It, which was brought to the big screen in 1992 by Robert Redford. The salmonfly hatch that drives Norman MacLeans brother Pauls fishing passion is still a draw for fly fishermen all over the world. The Nez Perce knew this valley as The River of the Road to the Buffalo. Rocky Mountain views are abundant, with the panoramic vista of the Continental Divide front and center. The wildlife diversity on the ranch and throughout the region provides endless sightings and interaction with deer, elk, bear, moose, song and game birds. The existing cabin provides an opportunity to learn the lay of the land and a place to develop a plan for a new retreat. The ranch is 60 miles east of Missoula, home of the University of Montana, and the cultural hub of western Montana. Helena and Great Falls are also within a 2-hour drive. All three cities have airports serviced by United, Delta and Alaskan Airlines.
