The Lazy SR Ranch is a contiguous 7,000-plus acre mountain ranch that includes a 640 acre state lease and a small forest permit that is fenced into the ranchs deeded acreage. It is contiguous to the Gallatin National Forest on the northeast corner of the Crazy Mountains, and is close to both Bozeman and Livingston. Estimated carrying capacity is 750 animal units. The Lazy SR operates on some of the most productive rangeland to be found in Montana, and high natural precipitation and rich soils coupled with good water rights assures annual hay production in the range of 2,400 tons. Scenic amenities include dramatic views of both the Bridger Mountains to the west and the high peaks of the Crazy Mountains immediately above the ranch, as well as a pleasing combination of timber, aspen groves, and open grassy parks that produce grasses that reach the windows of ones pickup or SUV. Wildlife includes black bear, elk, antelope, both deer species, and pretty much every other species of bird or animal that one would expect on a Montana mountain ranch. Fishing is available both in the ranchs ponds and the Shields River that passes through a portion of the ranch.
