The area known as The North Texas Hill Country truly lives up to its name.
The area between Hwy 4 and the Brazos River just south of Possum Kingdom Dam etches a W formation around Chick Bend and Fortune Bend. Over the past centuries this River has cut its way through the rolling hills and cliff sides creating one of the most scenic country side in Texas.
From Hwy 4 turning onto the gently winding Fortune Bend Rd will provide a peaceful, scenic, 15 mile drive to a gated entrance of Fortune Bend. Within this area is this 21 acre retreat providing immaculate home sites surrounded by views unseen anywhere else in Texas. The gently rolling terrain has scattered mesquites and cedars and has abundant wildlife seen almost every time Ive traveled to the property. With purchase of the 18 acres comes access to the common area, a 2 acre cleared "beach like" area along the edge of the Brazos River...

With purchase of the 18 acres comes access to the common area, a 2 acre cleared "beach like" area along the edge of the Brazos River. This area is located directly across from Ioni creek and provides camping, swimming, canoeing, and fishing opportunities as well as a boat ramp.
Theres endless history of this place with a couple of the interesting stories being:
In the 1960's classic "Good Bye to a River" written by John Graves, Graves writes his experience first hand of floating down the river and camping along the banks of the Brazos and gives his account of the views he experienced. Since his journey down the river very little change has taken place along the rivers edge.
Additional history in the area is form the 1870's where Jesse Veale was the last man killed by indians, this attack happened at the mouth of the Ioni where Jesse and his brother had set up camp with the purpose of catching fish.
This property is only minutes from Possum Kingdom Lake making it a great place to build your dream house and/or use as a recreational get away retreat.
