Sleepy Hollow Farm is ideally located near the village of Somerset in the Madison-Barbour Rural Historic District of Orange County. Anchored by Montpelier, President James Madisons home, the Historic District is today recognized for its open spaces and farming estates largely unchanged from the 19th century.
Sleepy Hollow resides along the beautiful Blue Ridge Turnpike built in the 1850s. Construction of the Turnpike connected the Shenandoah Valley farm markets past Sleepy Hollow to the nearby Town of Gordonsville, then a major railroad junction and commercial center.
At its core (the dining room) the residence at Sleepy Hollow may date to the 18th century and be a patent house or a house constructed to maintain and keep the Kings Grant. It was expanded in the late 19th century and again in the mid 20th century. Today, this country house offers a lot of charm and comfort.

Most recently Sleepy Hollow has been a Bed & Breakfast capturing an audience of visitors to the Rural Historic District scenery, Montpelier and the charmingly renovated Town of Gordonsville. The cottage adjacent to the main house has served as a duplex for B&B purposes but can also serve beautifully today as guest or staff quarters.
The land is 10+ acres bordered by mature hardwood forest with views over the neighboring Piedmont. Sleepy Hollow is in the Keswick Hunt and, with the small barn and open pastures, could easily provide for the foxhunting enthusiast. There is also a stream and spring-fed pond on Sleepy Hollow. The soil is deep and fertile suitable for grapes and vineyard, specialty crops of berries, etc., or just good, strong pasture for your livestock.
