Signal Hill is one of Orange County's truly iconic houses on one of the most beautiful roads. Here, Robert E. Lee's troops camped at one of their signal stations along the Rapidan in the winter of 1863/64 in preparation for the advance of Grant's troops. The ultimate crossing was in eastern Orange where was engaged The Battle of the Wilderness.
This wonderful home was architect designed to capture the essence of Provence and did so in a very special fashion of graceful scale and warmth. There are heart pine floors, a circular fireplace, wonderful sun room, new chef's kitchen and so much more. There is a pool and pool house at the end of the lawn. Privacy is absolute amidst 70 year old boxwoods, dogwood, magnolia, oaks and more. Grounds are beautifully landscaped and include blueberries, sweet and sour cherry, kiwi and more.

The 14 acres is about 1/2 lawn that was once pasture and the balance is in mature forest. A little clearing will open up views to the Southwest Mountains hidden now by aged forest. Located in Orange near James Madison's Montpelier, this house is a rarity to the market.
