The Central region of New York is packed with state parks containing hills and rivers for outdoor enthusiasts as well as Albany, the state capitol, and Cooperstown the historic location that houses the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Many of the state parks across the region have superb hiking trails and nature walk trails such as the Saratoga Spa State Park, Pixley Falls State Park, Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park, and the Glimmerglass State Park which is near the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

Madison County is bordered by Oneida Lake to the north but it has 14 other lakes with multiple locations for fishing and hunting. Madison County is also home to the Erie Canal and it has a rich farming and agricultural base.

When traveling this region one should visit the Hudson Valley, which includes cities such as Albany and Troy. The Hudson Valley is the oldest wine making and grape growing region in the United States and was established in 1677.

Saratoga County offers great opportunities for outdoor recreation and is very popular during the months of July through September. Saratoga National Historic Park is located along the Hudson River and offers great views of the landscape and Vermont's Green Mountains. Saratoga Spa State park offers hiking trails and the famous mineral springs.
