Canada del Oso Ranch is an "end-of-the-road" mountain ranch, ranging from elevations of 8100 to 10,500 feet in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Ponderosa pine, spruce and fir forest is found throughout the ranch, which is cut by several canyons up to 2000 feet deep. Most of these canyons contain small permanent streams, and some bragging-sized elk, mule deer and black bear call these canyons home. Serious hunters will find years of satisfaction seeking out trophy animals, utilizing the extensive network of roads and trails on the ranch.

To say that the Canada del Oso lodge is a showpiece is an understatement. This centrally-located, self-sufficient structure is 6200 square feet of log home majesty, built by one of North America's great builders, Pioneer Log Homes of British Columbia. Massive red cedar logs, Douglas fir flooring, aspen accents, granite countertops and tile all are reminiscent of some of the finest lodges in the West. You'll have plenty of room for guests or clients in 4 bedrooms and a guest suite, complemented with 4.5 baths.

Extensive outdoor decks offer wildlife viewing in the summer months, and a 42-foot fireplace made from rock harvested from the ranch property keeps you warm in the fall and winter months. The dining room seats up to ten or more, and lets guests dine and watch elk and turkey roam casually not far outside the windows. A special feature of this lodge is its handicapped-accessibility, including a ramp and elevator. A large garage and a new hunting cabin high on the ranch complete the impressive improvements at Canada del Oso.

While big game hunting is the prime attraction of Canada del Oso Ranch, trout ponds could be developed on several of the permanent streams. Off ranch, excellent trout fishing is available nearby on Eagle Nest Lake and in its tailwater, the Cimarron River. Taos, Angel Fire and Red River all offer downhill skiing within an hour's drive, and the many cultural attractions of Taos and Santa Fe are within easy reach.
