The Missouri Southeast Region is home to many of Missouri's spring-fed streams and crystal-clear waters. The southeastern corner, known as the "Bootheel" because of its shape, is rich in Missouri history and agriculture. Outdoor activities are plenty including hiking, exploring caves, or floating down winding streams. Other areas of interest within the region include Cape Girardeau, Eminence, Poplar Bluff, Rolla, and West Plains.

The Ozark National Scenic Riverways boast some of the most beautiful countryside, trails and streams in the country. The Riverways encompass more than 80,000 acres and is America's first congressionally designated national park for the preservation of a wild river system.

Taum Sauk Mountain State Park is along Highway 21, on Route CC, and has over 7,000 acres of unspoiled land and solitude. Within the park is Taum Sauk Mountain, with an elevation of 1,772 feet it is the highest point in Missouri.
