An area rich in history and culture, there are plenty of things to do in the Northwest region of Missouri. Located in the Northwest region of Missouri is Kansas City, the largest city in the state. Longview Lake is in Kansas City and is perfect for fishing, boating, and camping trips and nearby Sugar Creek offers fishing and walking trails. Lord's Park and nearby Lake Annette in Cass County offers hiking trails on steep hills, fishing, boating, and camping spots. Krug Park near St. Joseph has hiking trails and a lagoon with waterfalls while Smithville Lake has 2 beaches, over 700 campsites, bass fishing, and miles of trails for hiking, biking, and equestrian riding.

A couple historical sites in the area are the Liberty Memorial and the Watkins Woolen Mill State Park and State Historical Site. The memorial is for the men and women who served in World War I and the historical site preserves a mid-19th century building.
