The drive continues past an old house, makes a 180 turn and climbs to a wide "flat". The gas well is located on this flat, and the flat area continues northward about another 2500 feet. In the past the flat was used for cattle grazing or to make a corn crop. These days the grazing is by the local deer.
Minerals go with this land, and there is an operating gas well.
Roads in southern WV are twisty. This site fronts Route 10, flat and level, 3/4 mile into the village of Chapmanville. (C-ville has a variety of stores and services.) Just a 1/2 mile further and there is an entrance to US 119, an interstate-quality four-lane divided highway. From here it is 12 miles to Logan (county seat) and 45 miles to Charleston (state capitol). Access to all-weather roads on which you can make a steady speed is a desirable situation in southern WV.
