The House: The original Colonial house was built in 1850 and was the north of a farm that stretches all the way down to Aspetuck Ridge Rd. to the south which is now owned by Diane Von Furstenberg (Cloud Walk Farm). Leopold Stokowski once owned the property, a British Conductor known for his appearance in Fantasia and his long association with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He was married to Gloria Vanderbilt from 1945 to 1955.*The central part of the 1850's structure comprises the central structure of the house and has been essentially left alone. However, in 2002 a Master wing of approximately 944 square feet was added. Additional touches include hand hewn Chestnut floorboards secured with vintage nails throughout the bedroom area, fire-slate floors in the bathroom and beautiful walk in shower with flip down teak bench and soaking tub.*The Kitchen Wing of approximately 824 square feet was added on in 2008 and includes a magnificent vaulted ceiling sun room of 250 Square feet with views of the hills in the distance. The new kitchen features hand-made wood cabinets, a central island with a massive central island with a composite resin top which glows in the dark, a walk in pantry, a separate washer and dryer area which can be closed off and storage for additional heirloom china pieces. *The central 'formal dining room', sitting room and library/living room with fireplace have retained their original charm. *The second floor contains 3 bedrooms and a full bath and has had its' original charm preserved. The Barn: The post and Beam Barn was built by Ed Kady who operates East Coast Barn Builders out of Bridgewater, CT. The Barn was constructed on the foundation of a barn that had previously been on the site. A new slab was poured in the basement with a drain in it. The barn has its' own Electrical panel in the basement. The Grounds: The owner has owned the property for 34 years and is an avid gardener. The patio area and informal stairs off of the it which lead toward the barn are covered with perennial gardens with specimen plants. Additional planting beds on grounds There is a large round rock sculpture in the lawn on the south side of the property and a large metal gate opens onto the main road for easy access to large equipment should a pool want to be added. The property stretches down the slope away from the house into the woods.
