The River: One of the most outstanding features of this property is nearly half a mile of Hondo River frontage. The property line is surveyed to the middle of the river. The river is mostly fenced on both sides with you having complete access to your side of the river. The owner hauled large rocks to place along the banks of the river to prevent erosion.

TERRAIN AND VEGATATION: The farm is leveled to enable flood irrigation from a pipeline system with alfalfa valves and gated pipe. The farm is planted in permanent pasture for grazing.

The OSE has determined that there are 43.20 acre-feet per annum of water rights on the 13.5 acres of land. The original log for the H-117 irrigation well state that it was drilled in August of 1954 to a depth of 128. It has 8 casing and the perforations run from 84 to 128. Smith Machinery of Roswell, NM states that it was tested at 1000gpm with a draw down to 85 feet. This would indicate that there is plenty of water in the well.

Fruit Trees: The Hondo Valley is famous for its orchards. This property has some reminders of that era. On the property you can find Cherry Trees with sweet cherries, Pear Trees, Plumb Trees, Apple Trees, Apricot Trees and grape vines. All the fruit is great for making jams, jellies and preserves.

LIVESTOCK OPERATION: The farm is planted in permanent pasture and the owner would run 45 head of replacement heifers during the growing season. In recent years, a gentleman that furnished steers for roping ran his steers on the pasture.

WILDLIFE: There are Mule Deer and an occasional Elk that can be seen on the property.
