As full time 'residents' of Number Four, my wife and I enjoy crisp, clean air, vast green forests, numerous and unexpected wildlife sightings, spectacular starlit nights and water in every form you can imagine.  If you like to; hike, canoe, kayak, swim, snowshoe, ice fish, hunt, trap, fish, ride atv's or snow-sleds, or just enjoy the solitude, sights, sounds and fragrance of the great outdoors, you'll find it here in Number Four.  The Smith Road, a mile and a half to the west, is the local gateway to the 76,000 acre Independence River State Forest.  The trail to Panther Pond, and the river itself begin at the parking lot at the end of the road.  Several access trails to the Pepperbox Wilderness Wild Forest are found to the east along the Stillwater Road.  At the roads end is Stillwater Reservoir, a popular destination for anglers and water sport enthusiasts.  Both the Stillwater and Number Four roads connect to snowmobile corridor trail C8.  A seemingly endless bucket list of recreational opportunities.  Even those of us that have lived here for decades haven't done them all!
