Great hunting opportunities abound at Spanish Oaks Ranch. GMU 85 consists of mostly private property, and offers OTC Archery either sex Elk licenses. 2nd and 3rd season OTC rifle Bull Elk licenses. Private land only OTC Bear licenses can be drawn. Spring and Fall OTC Turkey licenses. Please see the 2024 Colorado hunting brochures to check regulations, and specific rules. This area is known for it’s large trophy potential and over the counter Elk licenses. There are NO Covenants or Special Regulations here. Spanish Oaks Ranch is surrounded by large ranches to the North and West. It is NOT surrounded by smaller tracts of land, making it much more private! Which leads to lower traffic and use on the surrounding properties. This property is NOT a part of Fisher Peak Ranch, but you do have to drive though it to get here. That Ranch has a Road Association, and they do road maintenance when required. Fisher Peak Ranch subdivision is gated. You will need to get a updated monthly gate code to enter this property through Fisher Peak Ranch for access. Region & Climate
Trinidad and the surrounding foothills offer what many consider to be a banana belt like climate in CO. Day time temperatures rarely exceed the 90’s in the summer, averaging 85 degrees. Cool summer nights average in the 50’s. Winter time temperatures vary depending on La Nina or El Nino climate patterns. La Nina patterns typically produce drier colder temperatures for southern CO throughout the winter and are more common than El Nino patterns. Where as El Nino patterns usually occur every 2-7 years and typically mean wetter snowy conditions for Southern CO, accompanied by warmer winter time temperatures.
