RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. For the avid hunter, there are some good spots for shooting lanes and green patches ready to be worked on for the upcoming hunting seasons. Natural timber and regrowth provide excellent habitat for the local wildlife. Whitetail deer tracks have been found throughout the tract. Turkey and other small game typical to South Mississippi are also abundant in this rural area. This tract also lends itself toward four-wheeling and primitive camping.

Lake Mike Conner is located just six miles from JD30. Maintained by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the 80-acre lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, redear, magnolia crappie and channel catfish. A state sportfishing license is required, and daily creel limits are: 100 bream, 10 catfish, 30 crappie and 10 bass. Skiing is allowed on Wednesdays, Sundays, 4th of July and Labor Day from noon until sunset. The lake area also has 15 camping pads with electrical and water hookups, a boat launch, fishing piers and a pavilion.

One of Mississippis most popular canoeing/kayaking waterways, the Okatoma Creek, is 13 miles to the east in Seminary, MS. The Okatoma has Class I rapids and beautiful scenery. Day trips can last anywhere from 1.5-6 hours. There is a 16-mile overnight option, as well. Canoe/kayak rentals are available or use your own.
