Littleton, Colorado began as a community due to the gold rush of 1859, Pikes Peak. Gold seekers flocked from all over as well as merchants and farmers knowing the miners would need necessities for life. Richard Sullivan Little, a young engineer of the time, helped to lay out a system to get water to farms and businesses. Little fell in love with the site of present-day Littleton. He filed a home stake and other land claims and began to farm the area. When the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad reached the area in 1871, the community took off at a rapid pace. In 1890, the town of Littleton was incorporated. Today, Littleton features a historic downtown lined with one-of-a-kind shops and breweries. Pikes Peak Americas Mountain

South Platte River

The pristine waters of the South Platte River form in the South Park grasslands in Park County. The river then flows for 439 miles and through 7 dams. After it flows out of Spinney Mountain Reservoir, the South Platte River flows into Elevenmile Canyon Reservoir. This stretch is known as the Dream Stream because of its epic fishing. Anglers take advantage of the Gold Medal fishing and can also enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, or utilizing other non-motorized watercraft on certain portions of the river.

Front Range

The Front Range is a mountain range that stretches from Wyoming down to central Colorado. These towering peaks block severe weather leaving Denver and its suburbs with moderate weather and endless days of sunshine. The snowcapped peaks rise to 14,000 feet, 200 of which are visible from Denver, and 32 that soar to 13,000 feet and above.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park encompasses 415 square miles or 265,807 acres of diverse landforms and wildlife. The park has an array of meadows, alpine lakes, and towering mountain peaks to observe and discover. Over 300 miles of hiking trails call for adventurous hikers.

Chatfield Reservoir

Float your boat in the lake, bicycle or hike on a trail that provides scenic views of the neighboring foothills and Platte River valley, camp, ride a horse and even fly a model airplane - all at Chatfield State Park, nestled next to the foothills southwest of Denver.
