The 1880s country cape was originally built across the street. Then around the 1980s it was carefully moved to its current location. Many of the original beams and hand hewn raised paneling on the walls of the home were preserved when the house was moved. The original cape remains the hub of the home with the kitchen central to the floor plan. Cherry cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, double wall ovens and a Bosch 5 burner gas cook top built into the island, will please the chef in the house! Just off the kitchen is the greenhouse for harvesting your herbs year around.
The dining and living rooms are one large room that enjoy the brick fireplace, period details such as wooden pegged gunstock corners, wide pine wainscoting and flooring. The whole family can just about be in one room as dinner is prepared! Through sliding glass doors from the dining room is direct access to the three season porch. The wall of windows allows for a great view over the rear pasture and Pack Monadnock.
Over time, two additions were built off each side of the main cape. To the west side is a great family room with a massive granite block fireplace, barn board accented walls and huge screened porch. This area would make a great space for casual entertaining, as there are two bedrooms and a full bath. And, to the east, the beautiful au pair suite or studio living area with vaulted ceilings, floor to ceiling brick fireplace and private deck overlooking Rose Mountain. It is complete with a stainless steal appliances kitchen including a full sized refrigerator and 5 burner gas stove. The bath has a Jacuzzi tub and shower and plenty of closet space. Lastly, upstairs in the main cape are two more bedrooms and a bath.
Maple Rose Farm is for the most part bound by stonewalls. The long road frontage is lined with a strong stand of maples for over 300 taps in the spring. Mature perennial gardens and productive vegetable gardens decorate the grounds surrounding the house. The property is currently maintained without using chemicals. It would be a great opportunity for organic crops or CSA. This farm and its picturesque setting is ready to welcome in your family.
Other Notes:
In support of renewable energy, a outdoor wood boiler has been installed to heat the house as well as potentially the garage
The paved circular drive accesses the 5 bay garage
Additional 5 acre lot available across the road.
A great investment for the future
