Westerham, a mid-eighteenth century Federal style dwelling, is proudly positioned overlooking 55 +/- pastoral acres in western Hanover County. Originally constructed in 1734 with 22 thick brick walls laid in Flemish bond, many of the frames, sills and sashes of the windows, as well as the glass, wide pine floors, and doors with handmade H-L hinges are still present. The plastering, though repaired in places, is native to the home and is in remarkable condition. An original mantelpiece in the formal living room measure 6 feet in height and the dining room is adorned with a somewhat shorter reproduction. Exposed brick and hand-hewed beams are noteworthy features in the English Basement. On the exterior, twin chimneys flank the house from the basement to the attic level.
