The name of the ranch was inspired by the remnants of a large stone corral with approximately half of the corral still standing. There is also a historic "safe house" on the property that was constructed by early settlers for protection. Evidence also remains of an old home site and rock fences that are visible in multiple areas. A local historian says that there are very few "safe houses" still intact in Central Texas.
