The Springdale Ranch in SW Hamilton County is a ranch rich in history. It is named after the Springdale School that was built on site in 1878 as one of the first Schools in Hamilton County. In 1880 the teacher at Springdale School was T. A. Putnam who held a first grade certificate and was employed to teach a "Public Free School" for a term of 3 months at ten cents per day until the amount reached $25.00. School started on March 22 and ended on June 1. Gholson Creek traverses the ranch for approximately 4300 ft. Gholson Creek is rock bottom creek that rises one mile east of Pecan Wells, Tx and just west of FM 2005 in west Hamilton county and runs 11 miles to its mouth in the Cowhouse Creek one mile north of Shive.

Take Highway 36 west from Hamilton, turn left at blinking light onto FM 218, turn left on 2005 and go about 10 miles and keep left on FM 2005 toward Goldthwaite, Tx and the property will be on your left at the Intersection of FM 2005 and CR 511. The entrance is about 1/4 mile down CR 511 on your right.
