FUN FACT : According to Owners, History and Irene Taylors Saga of Anderson, the hill upon which the Ranch Home sits, is possibly the site of the very 1st Settlement in Grimes County. Included in the photo slideshow is an image of an original painting which was used to decorate one of the walls in the ALAMO. The painting is of Tapley Holland. Holland Creek, which outlines a portion of the Ranch, was named after Tapley. In the painting, Travis used his sword to cut a line in the soil. Those stepping across the line would stay and defend the ALAMO. Legend is that Holland was the 1st across saying Let me be the first to die for my country! Tapleys home was in the exact location as the current ranch home.
