THE FOREST

There entire 20 acres is in forest. There are some nice trails in place to enjoy a quite walk on. About 8 acres of the forest is level to gently sloping.

Beechnuts, Hickory nuts, sweet White Oak and Red Oak Acorns provide a sustainable food source for the squirrels, chipmunks, whitetail deer and wild turkey that live in abundance in the forest. The intermittent stream provides a water source for the wildlife.

Many species of songbirds and woodpeckers that thrive in the special habitat that large older trees provide make their home in this special forest environ. A professional forester has looked after the management of the forest and in 2011 a light thinning was conducted on a portion of the lower section leaving the flats and ridge top areas intact. The timber trails were laid out in advance of the harvest and now serve as hiking trails.
