Mountain Meadow Log Home
This log home acreage is 160 acres located about 3 miles south and west of Long Creek, Oregon. It is 90 miles south of Pendleton, Oregon and 41 miles north of John Day, Oregon. Long Creek has a population of about 250 with schools, café, mini mart, churches, and fuel station. The elevation of the property runs from about 4000’-4500’.
The log home itself is 3200 square feet including the daylight basement. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths with tons of storage areas and a beautiful kitchen. The cabinets are blue pine and custom built. There are a lot of windows with panoramic views of meadows, mountains, and wildlife. It has oak hardwood floors and finished logs as interior walls. The open floor plan makes this look very spacious and equally bright. There is a deck that runs ¾ around the house.

A machinery/storage shed is 24x60 with a shop at one end that is 24/36. There is also a RV storage building for recreational motor homes etc. All of the buildings look brand new and were built with time and care.
There are two large ponds on the property that contain bass in one and trout in the other. A year round stream goes by the house and flows through a small pond by the master bedroom. Two springs run the house water. Combined they give 13 gpm to the house. There is another spring but it is not needed because of the volume of water from the other two. It is very well watered and the annual rainfall will run from 12”-16”.
The timber from the topo map is about 80+ acres. It is mostly fir/pine with some juniper. It has been thinned so as to obtain optimal growth from the trees. It has been well done and looks very good.
Elk, deer, and turkeys are regularly seen on the property. Owner LOPs are available for 2 bull elk and 2 buck deer. There is also an 8 month cow elk season on a draw/sponsorship basis.( Contact me to obtain all the info on this). The owner has harvested elk from the deck in previous years. Although there are many deer on the property the owner has not taken any because they enjoy the viewing of them so much. They also enjoy watching the turkeys strut their stuff from the deck.
The climate is mild with a some snow in the winter depending on what kind of year it is. It is hard to project the weather but the last 5 years the snow has been sparse. Temperatures in the summer are in the 70-90 range with extremes going either way at different times. There are a lot of sunny days.
Grant County has approximately 85,000 square miles in it. The population is a little over 7,000 so it is pretty secluded and sparse. You get to know your neighbors and it is a community atmosphere. John Day which is about 45 minutes away has a state of the art hospital and almost anything you need. It is the hub of the county. The county has an agrarian atmosphere and runs off of cattle, timber, and recreation.
This log home/acreage property is really very beautiful with timber, meadows, and view. The fishing, big game hunting, and birds add to it along with the idea of a culture that is 50 years behind the big city.
