There are many great hunting properties that hit the market each year in Kansas, but very rarely is there a river bottom property like this one available in the northwest part of the State. Anyone who has experienced whitetail hunting in Northwest Kansas will tell you all about the incredible number of deer and the quality of bucks living along the South Fork of the Solomon River. There is very good reason for this. The Solomon River in this area has the perfect combination of thick timber cover, good soils for producing high yielding crops and excellent food sources for the wildlife, and last but not least an excellent year-round water source. This property is secluded from all road frontage, with good access from a private drive that enters the property from the South. Nearly 17 acres of alfalfa provide an excellent high protein food source for the whitetail deer and attracts large flocks of turkeys in the Spring as well. Other larger crop fields are located within the center and eastern portions of the property providing a variety of food sources for wildlife, as well as income to the owner from crops or farm rent. Large cottonwoods tower over the land with many cedars scattered within creating an outstanding mix of tree cover. Long stretches of timber along the riverbed and the abandoned railroad track provide miles of hunting edge through different portions of the property. Secluded openings within the timber create pockets that could easily be converted to food plots or enhanced by feeders to attract deer to these hidden areas during daylight hours. Long scrape lines and fresh rubs litter the property from one end to the other – leaving much to the imagination. If you are looking for trophy whitetail and turkey hunting in Northwest Kansas, it does not get any better than this. - This property stretches for a full mile along the edge of the South Fork of the Solomon River. The property has over 1/3 mile of river frontage in the northwest corner and the riverbed creates the ¼ mile property boundary along the east side. The portion of the Solomon River within this section of land is the widest stretch of the river for several miles and holds a very high population of whitetail deer and turkeys
