Designed and built by Jack Stehling, a noted Fredericksburg architect of his time, this was his personal home for many years. He used native fieldstone, laid by local stone masons on not only the exterior walls where he also combine wood siding, but also on several of the interior walls. By providing almost total glass walls on the walls facing the courtyard, he created the effect where the pool and patio are the backdrop view from all of the rooms in the home. (by the way, the heated, saltwater pool was only added in 2009 and it has a retractable cover for safety, keeping the heat in and the pool clean)

The "living side of the horseshoe" is where you will find vaulted ceilings highlighted with wooden beams resting atop large plate glass windows which allow natural light to shine into the open, fabulous kitchen with large island to gather around and a living room/dining combo. A few years ago when the home was remodeled, granite counters were installed, stainless appliances were added including a gas cook top, double compartment dishwasher and updated cabinetry, some with frosted glass fronts. The pantry and the utility room are in easy reach of the kitchen as well.
A wood burning fireplace set in native fieldstone is at the wall opposite the kitchen. This is also where you find a small loft with a depth of about 4', an area that allows you to display art and accessories, just as the loft area over the island does.
On the other leg of the horseshoe is where you find the three bedrooms of the home. Located between the two guest bedrooms is a shared bath. Now that is whole different story when it comes to the master where you will find his with rain head shower and body spray as does hers but it also has a jetted tub. Both are highlighted with impressive tile work with flattering accents. The foyer area of the master bath has enough room for a treadmill and there is a door that leads to a private deck.
This home is placed on a corner lot where the side yard of the living area of the home has been fenced for privacy. Mature oaks are complemented the manicured landscaping which highlights this turn your head home!
In review, this is a 3 bedroom/3.5 bath home with 2372 SF of conditioned living space on a 103.4' X 110' lot.
