The Mountains region of Georgia offers a cross section of things to see and do. The northwest corner of the Mountains region borders the states of Alabama and Tennessee. The nearest large city is Chattanooga, Tennessee. One of the biggest attraction is Rock City which is located on Lookout Mountain and located near Ruby Falls. Other attractions include Cloudland Canyon State Park, Fort Mountain State Park, Chief Vann House Historic Site, and the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Several of the towns within the region hold a variety of annual festivals. Lake Lanier and Lake Altoona also provide ample opportunity for water sports and recreation including hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
