LAND
The makeup of the Cayendo Cuernos Ranch provides an ideal high-fenced environment for deer, Scimitar Oryx, quail, turkey, dove, and hog hunting. Over the years, the owners have greatly improved and manage the whitetail herd with introduced genetics. Approximately three years ago, the owners introduced genetics, including 30 bred does from the Faith Ranch breeding pasture. The ranch has all of the native brush species for growing large whitetail deer. The ranch is under a MLDP permit with a management plan and protein feeding program that has been in place for over 15 years. This ranch has a larger herd of Scimitar Oryx, numbering in the 75+/- range. Several have been harvested through the years that are Gold quality SCI ranked.
Many miles of roads are in place to access the entire ranch. Water is essential to a high-fenced ranch, and there are six water wells with piped water throughout this ranch. The majority of the 18 hunting stations each have a blind, corn feeder and water trough. Scattered throughout the landscape are protein feeders that provide supplemental feed for the deer herd. Food plots are Ideally located, planted during the season to provide good deer and dove hunting. The ranch is nicely set up for quail hunting with strips cleared. Located along the southern boundary is an easement to a couple of landowners to the east.
IMPROVEMENTS
The improvements on the Cayendo Cuernos have been well-done. One of the partners is a well-known contractor and has done high-end construction jobs all over the Hill Country and South Texas. A main all-weather caliche road extends from Hwy. 44 for approximately 1.4 +/- miles to the headquarters. The headquarters is well equipped and set up to entertain and relax. A 2,000+/- sf, the two-story building contains three one-bedroom and one-bath individual spacious suites. Each of the suites have their own entrance door and are fully self-contained, several have fireplaces. Off the second floor is a covered balcony with an outdoor fireplace, perfect for visiting about the day's hunt. Nearby is a 1,400+/- sf gathering place with a large sitting area featuring a wall-to-ceiling window, pool table, full kitchen, and large dining area. Several bedrooms are also located in the gathering area space for additional guests. These improvements have a nice outside area that includes a fire pit and a large table for meals, which is all enclosed by a fence. Nearby is a covered rifle range with several distances for target shooting.
Other improvements include a large 200+/- ft covered barn for parking vehicles and storing equipment for the ranch. Attached is a full game cleaning area with a walk-in cooler and several additional sleeping areas for guests or guides. A nice set of cattle pens are in place. Several smaller barns are located near the headquarters along with an overhead feed bin.
WILDLIFE
The Cayendo Cuernos Ranch has been aggressively managed to provide exceptional habitat for wildlife. While driving the ranch, you will find an abundance of white-tailed deer Scimitar Oryx, turkey, dove, quail, and feral hogs. The whitetail herd is managed under a Level III Managed Lands Deer Permit, which allows hunting from October to February. Supplemental protein feeding is also a regular practice. A 6.2 +/- acre DMP pen is set up and ready to go.
WATER
Throughout the ranch, water is plentiful for the wildlife with over 24+/- water troughs and numerous tanks. The six water wells are a mixture of four electric submersible pumps and two windmills.
