Located about 40 miles south of the Oregon border off Highway 101, this lot is located in Requa, about 3 miles (4 minutes) from where the mouth of the Klamath River meets the Pacific Ocean. The next closest community, also unincorporated, is Klamath which is located 5 miles south (8 minutes), on the banks of the Klamath River. The town was first settled in 1851 when prospectors arrived. The area was home to one of several salmon canneries for the Klamath Packing & Trading Co. which started in 1881. The population of Klamath was 779 at the 2010 census, up from 651 at the 2000 census. The local climate is very moderate, with very cool summers for its latitude as a result of intense maritime moderation. Nearby inland areas behind the mountains have significantly warmer summers.

A portion of the Requa land is part of Redwoods National Park and includes a world class overlook above the mouth of the Klamath River which provides opportunities for both whale and bird watching. Just north lies the Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park and just south lies Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, all components of the Redwood National and State Parks system. Other activities include hiking in the surrounding Redwood forests, fishing in the Klamath River or take a charter boat ocean fishing, explore the rugged California coast or surf the big waves if brave enough!

About 21 miles north (30 minutes) lies Crescent City, the closest major population center and the county seat. Named for the crescent-shaped stretch of sandy beach south of the city, Crescent City had a total population of 7,643 in the 2010 census, up from 4,006 in the 2000 census. Major stores and outlets include Walmart, Home Depot, Dollar Tree, Safeway, NAPA Auto Parts and other stores to find anything you may need. Public schools are available from K-12 plus a community College. Humbolt State University is located 60 miles south. Del Norte County Regional Airport is available for smaller planes, the closest international airport is 125 miles in Medford OR.
