This ranch is 2854+/- acres of very productive pasture land located approximately 6 miles south of Broken Bow, Nebraska. This area is know for its excellent grass and putting pounds on cattle. With abundant water from a expansive pipeline and tank system as well as multiple stock ponds on the ranch this one will check a lot of the boxes for todays cattle producer. The center of the ranch is a series of large grass pastures and the east side as well as the west side of the ranch features long cedar and hardwood canyons that offer plenty of cover and shade for livestock and wildlife.

Mule deer on the ranch have averaged 130 to 175 and whitetail deer average 120 to 150. There are also Sharp-tailed grouse frequently seen on the ranch as well as an assortment of other small game such as coyote, bobcat, racoon, opossum and many other critters. Multiple water fowl species also frequent the large pond that sits on the east side of the ranch. The diversity of wildlife and size of the ranch will allow for many good days of hunting for the adventurous outdoorsman. The ranch is also very well suited for ATV and UTV trails as well as the equestrian minded owner.

Agriculture

Currently the ranch operates as a full scale cattle ranch. This ranch produces excellent feed and is set up well for good pasture rotation. The ranch is running 325 mother cows year round with the addition of some lease cattle when the grass production allows. The ranch has seen tremendous rainfall this season and there are approximately 50 pairs adding to the 2022 season. The pastures are carefully managed for noxious weeds and there has been a stringent mitigation program for many years to assure quality feed and minimal weed problems.

Region & Climate

The Ogallala Aquifer is the life blood of Nebraska and the Broken Box Ranch sits right on top of the aquifer. The region has great water and excellent grass. Custer County, Nebraska averages 24 inches of rain and 29 inches of snow annually and sees approximately 224 days of sun. Average high temp in July is 87 degrees and average low in January is 12 degrees.
