Here is a perfect-sized log cabin on 11.64 acres of private land, land that borders a 640 acre state section. The size is perfect as an affordable getaway place in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Built in 2002 by it's creative owner/builder, the cabin comes equipped with some furnishings, a table and chairs, bed, shelving and a cabinet, a proper wood stove with slate tile backboard/heat collector, a sleeping loft with a pull down/put away ladder, multiple windows for taking in the forest and mountain views, a picnic table and a recently graded and graveled driveway. The cabin is hidden from any road view by virtue of its location on the land, and the fenceline separating it from the 640 acres of state land is approximately 100 ft to the west. The fire mitigation around the cabin is complete and the owners have taken excellent care of the cabin and property. It is simple, colorful, rustic and open, and it's a cabin you could be very proud to bring your friends to. There is no well or septic but the next owner can or cannot complete that luxury. There are other options for both if your intention is to use the cabin for camping. Electrical wiring for lights and power are in and powered by an older generator that is loud, but the seller will leave it if it's wanted. Westcliffe is a 7 mile drive away and mostly by county-maintained road. I would guess only half a mile is not maintained. There are no covenants or restrictions on the land and the neighbors aren't near. This is a very nice offering and priced right.
Westcliffe and Silver Cliff are located in the Wet Mountain Valley in Custer County, and rest at approximately 8000 feet. The two towns are bordered on the west by the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains that ascend to 14,000 feet on some peaks, and the rolling Wet Mountains to the east. The Collegiate Peaks can be seen in the north along with Pikes Peak, and the Spanish Peaks can be seen to the south. The Wet Mountain Valley is famous for its unparalleled views, its rural-ranching lifestyle and endless miles of hiking trails that wind through high-mountain meadows bursting with wildflowers. The Valley is also famous for more than 47 high-mountain lakes and excellent fly-fishing.
Westcliffe is located approximately 1-2 hours from Colorado Springs and everyone enjoys wildlife-viewing as well as big-game hunting in this undiscovered mountain valley. There's boating and fishing at Lake DeWeese or first-class fly-fishing and rafting on the Arkansas River just 30 minutes away. Skiing at Monarch Ski Area is 90 minutes from town and for hikers, bicyclists or backpackers, the Rainbow Trail that runs from Salida to Westcliffe (over 100 miles), along the eastern edge of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, is accessible just west of our town.
