The lake is professionally managed and stocked with largemouth bass, bream, threadfin shad and a few grass carp. It is well-groomed, limed, fertilized, and in great overall shape. While the current owners have caught largemouth bass weighing over eight pounds, a recent shock survey revealed bass in the 10+ pound class. The big ones are already there and the bream, shad and fish feeders provide plenty of food for sustained growth. The peninsulas were designed to provide space for bank fishing and are open enough to allow fly fishing as well. The southern cove is secluded and shallow providing a nice retreat for the wood ducks. Several pairs of Canadian Geese call The Green their winter home and nesting place. The lake is fed by one of the natural springs and maintains a constant water level throughout the year.
Nestled at the end of the winding, private drive sits a charming, cozy Dog-Trot Cabin, a replica of the owners great-grandmothers own home. Custom built for the owners in 2006, the homes great attention to detail includes a tin roof, deep front & back screened-in porches, natural stone outdoor fireplace, and the dog-trot between the two living areas. In the practical design of the times, the tall ceilings make this 1600 sq ft home feel spacious, welcoming and warm. The house faces the lake and the front porch has an incredible view of the woods and water.
As you enter the house through the screen door, you are met with an airy porch the width of the home. Beyond the porch is the breeze-way that is commonly referred to as a Dog Trot. Heart pine flooring spans the length of the trot, as well as the entrances to both living areas and a stairway to an upstairs bedroom/office. Passing through the dog-trot, spectacular views of the lake greet you from the other porch. This one includes the traditional stone fireplace and sits under a canopy of mature white oak and beech trees.
On one side of the Dog-trot is the kitchen, living room, master bedroom and bathroom. The homeowner opted to use beautiful antiques instead of modern cabinets to house kitchen essentials. The wood burning fireplace is framed by an antique mantle. All walls throughout the home are bead board in natural wood stain. There is crown molding, wide baseboards and door trim throughout that is in keeping with the style of the cabin. Flooring is a wood laminate. The master bedroom is spacious and three extra-large windows provide plenty of natural light. The homes two bathrooms are situated on either side of the dog-trot and are identical. Each has an authentic claw foot tub and antique crystal chandelier.
Across to the other side of the dog trot are two more large bedrooms, the above mentioned bathroom, and a laundry room equipped with storage shelves. Upstairs would make a great get-away for office space, or for an extra bedroom with multiple beds. This one-of-a-kind home offers one more feature; a shower room. Fitted with a large shower, sink and changing area, and equipped with air conditioning and a heater, this stand-alone space is just off the main house. For your equipment, there is a 1,152 sq ft metal barn with steel posts, poured concrete floor, both rolling door and entry door, and elevated storage at the back. The barn provides plenty of secure storage room for your tractor, side-by-side, ATVs and other equipment.
