Lake City offers many different events throughout the year to bring the community together from the Gateway City Craft Beer & Wine Festival, the Annual Easter Egg-stravaganza, 4th of July Celebration, Trunk or Treat, Olustee Battle Festival & Re-Enactment, Florida Gateway Pro Rodeo, Columbia County Fair, and much more.

In Lake City you will find 3 hospitals: Lake City Medical Center, Shands Lake Shore Medical Center, and a VA Medical Center. Many different shopping opportunities at the Lake City Mall, Super Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, Publix, Winn Dixie, Harveys and much more.

Florida Gateway College calls Lake City home or you can choose to travel 31 miles south to Gainesville where you will find the University of Florida and Santa Fe College.

Ichetucknee Springs State Park is a fun, family-friendly place to visit. People of all ages enjoy tubing down the river from May to September. The water is a constant 72 degrees. In addition to tubing, visitors can enjoy picnicking, snorkeling, canoeing, swimming, hiking, and wildlife viewing. Scuba diving is available daily in the Blue Hole only (you MUST be Cave Certified). White-tailed deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, wood ducks and great blue herons can be seen from the river. Picnic areas, equipped with tables and grills, are available throughout the park. A full-service concession offers food, refreshments, and outdoor products from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Tubes plus snorkeling and diving equipment can be rented within the park or from private vendors outside the park. Multiple exit points and tram service make it easy to tailor your tube trip to your familys endurance. Lazily meandering under a canopy of cypress trees in crystal clear water on a hot day is a summer pleasure everyone should experience.

Landrum Acres is located off SW Sheppard Way a county maintained dirt road. The property is cleared. A line of giant oak trees runs along the border of the property on 3 sides. Making the property ideal for horses or farming. There is no requirement or timetable to build. However when you decide to build it must be 750 square feet or larger. Modular homes and mobile homes are allowed providing they meet the minimum square footage and are 7 years of age or newer when initially placed on the land. Farm animals are permitted with the exception of pigs. Camping is allowed on a limited basis.
