Riverfield Plantation has been operated as a private family hunting property for over 15 years but for the 2017-2018 season, the duck blinds were leased, creating Riverfield Duck Club. Impoundments total 287 acres and are flooded using two deep-water wells. Planted fields total 149 acres, flooded timber totals 58 acres, and flooded wet soil management area totals 80 acres. There are 19 four-man blinds complete with dog ramps. Ten species of duck were killed in the most recent season including: Woodies, Gadwall, Blue and Green Wing Teal, Ring Neck, Pintail, Wigeon, Spoonbill, Mallards, and Bluebill.
Riverfield has been managed for trophy bucks for 18 years and has a great overall deer population. Trophy bucks on the plantation are in the 130 to 150 class. A total of 12 maintained food plots are an added bonus. Multiple stand options are in place including 4 box stands, 6 double ladder stands, and 8 bow hunting stands.
The river bottoms and hardwood draws of Riverfield are an excellent place to hunt the large turkey population. Several food plots on the plantation are planted in Chufa specifically for the turkeys and draw in mature Toms.
The power line fields are an excellent place for dove hunting. Riverfield Plantations location is known to hold a significant dove population. Additional dove fields can be added if desired.
With such great frontage on the Combahee River comes the added bonus of excellent year-round fishing. Redbreast, Crappie, and Largemouth Bass are frequently caught by those who visit.
While hunting may be the main event on Riverfield Plantation, other recreational options are available. There are miles of kept ATV and horse trails for those who are interested in exploring the 945 acres. Kayaking on the Combahee River is a relaxing activity for those who like to enjoy natures scenery. Finally, the powerline fields provide the opportunity to practice long range shooting in a safe manner.
