The well-established lake, known as Lake Bernita, is professionally managed by Southeastern Pond Management and contains almost two decades worth of largemouth bass and bream. Opportunities for other outdoor activities such as waterfowl hunting, paddle sports, wildlife/bird watching, and more, are endless. One of the unique attributes is a well-maintained grass & gravel pathway that encompasses the entire 2-mile perimeter of the lake shoreline. With easy access to the water, fishing and sunset rides or walks around the lake, will become part of your daily routine. Finally, a covered boathouse, floating Gazebo, and large covered, open-air pavilion overlooking the lake are sure to be favorite gathering places for family and friends.
Wildlife And Timber
Tailored property management has successfully produced multiple wildlife species: white-tailed deer, eastern wild turkeys, mourning doves, waterfowl, and various small game. Cultivated food plots and fields are located throughout the property in conjunction with planted fruit trees (i.e. pear, plum, fig, and crab-apple).
The 900 +/- acres of woodlands contain some of the finest postcard scenes in the southeast. Mature upland hardwood forests, full of White Oak and Red Oak, combined with over a mile of perennial streams flowing through the property, provide excellent wildlife habitat. Several hundred acres of planted loblolly pine, and an area of planted longleaf pine, provide for future timber revenue. In the meantime, the pines offer excellent wildlife bedding and cover. An extensive bottomland hardwood area along Allen Creek (perennial stream) includes a wet bottomland area for waterfowl habitat.
