With an average annual rainfall of 16 to 18 inches, the Black Butte Ranch provides excellent summer pasture for a large number of cow calf pairs. Elevations range from 4,600 feet near the Smith River where the topograghy is mostly rolling hills to 6,310 feet at the top of Black Butte.
